Enrolment

Enrolling at YoMy Sunshine

Joining a new centre should feel simple. Here is how enrolment works, what we will ask you for, and how to get ready for your child’s first days.

How it works

Five steps from first visit to first day

  1. 1

    Book a centre tour

Come and see the rooms, the outdoor area and the kitchen. Bring your child if you can, so you can both get a feel for the place.

  2. 2

    Talk with our team

Tell us about your child: their age, routines, what they enjoy and anything they need help with. We will also talk about the days you are looking for.

  3. 3

    Receive enrolment information

We send you the enrolment information and forms, and explain anything that is unclear. Take your time to read through it at home.

  4. 4

    Complete the required forms

Fill in the forms and return them with the documents we ask for, such as your child’s immunisation history statement and any medical plans.

  5. 5

    Confirm availability and start date

Once your forms are complete, we confirm a place on your preferred days, or the closest days available, and agree on a start date together.

Getting ready

What we will ask you for

Having these details ready makes the forms quicker. If anything is missing or you are unsure, just ask. We are happy to help.

  • Contact details

Details for each parent or guardian, plus emergency contacts and the people you authorise to collect your child.

  • Medical and allergy information

Your doctor’s details, any medical conditions, and a copy of any action plan for asthma, allergy or anaphylaxis.

  • Immunisation history statement

In Victoria, early childhood services need a current immunisation history statement from the Australian Immunisation Register before they can confirm enrolment.

  • Dietary and cultural needs

Let us know about allergies, intolerances, halal or vegetarian meals and any cultural or religious needs, so meals and routines suit your child.

  • Preferred days

The days you would like your child to attend. We will do our best to match them and let you know what is available.

Help with fees

Child Care Subsidy

Eligible families may be able to receive the Child Care Subsidy (CCS) from the Australian Government. It is paid straight to the centre, which lowers the fees you pay.

You apply through your Centrelink online account, linked to myGov. Once your child is enrolled, we submit their enrolment details and you confirm them in your account before the subsidy can be paid.

How much you receive depends on your family’s situation, so check the details with Services Australia.

Immunisation

No Jab No Play

Under Victoria’s No Jab No Play law, childcare and kindergarten services need an immunisation history statement from the Australian Immunisation Register before enrolment can be confirmed.

Services Australia can help you get a copy of the statement, including if your child was born overseas. We will also ask for an updated statement from time to time while your child is with us.

Your child’s first days

What to bring

Please label everything with your child’s name. Our team will tell you about anything else your child needs for their room.

  • A change of clothes (or two, for younger children)
  • A bottle or cup, if your child still uses one
  • Any medication, clearly labelled with written instructions
  • A photo of your family, to help your child feel at home in their room

Settling in takes time, and every child is different. Talk with us about how you would like to handle the first few days. Shorter days can help some children settle.

FAQs

Enrolment questions

How do I start the enrolment process?

The first step is a tour. Book a time through our contact page or call us on (03) 9789 0067, and we will talk you through the rest when you visit.

Can I use the Child Care Subsidy at YoMy Sunshine?

Eligible families may be able to receive the Child Care Subsidy, which is paid to the centre to reduce your fees. You apply through your Centrelink online account linked to myGov, and then confirm your child’s enrolment once we have submitted it.

Does my child need to be immunised to enrol?

Victoria’s No Jab No Play law means we need a current immunisation history statement from the Australian Immunisation Register before we can confirm enrolment. The Victorian Department of Health website explains the rules and any exemptions.

What if my preferred days are not available?

We will tell you what is available and talk through your options. Places change during the year, so we can also keep your preferred days in mind.

Can you cater for my child’s allergies or diet?

Yes. Our meals are cooked on site, and we plan around allergies, intolerances, halal and vegetarian needs. Please share the details, and any action plan, when you enrol.
