Growing independence

Big steps between two and three

The toddler year is full of change. Children go from a handful of words to full sentences, from wobbly steps to running and climbing, and from playing alone to playing with friends.

Our approach is designed to support all of that through play. Rooms are set up so toddlers can reach books, puzzles and art materials themselves, and educators follow what each child is curious about.

Clear, gentle routines help toddlers know what comes next, which makes the busy parts of the day, such as meals, rest and home time, feel easier.

Learning through play

What your toddler is learning

It may look like play, and it is. Every day, toddlers are building skills they will use for the rest of their lives.

  • 01

    Language and communication

Toddlers are learning new words almost every day. We talk, sing, read and name things with them all day long, and give them time to answer in their own way.

  • 02

    Movement and physical skills

Climbing, running, digging and carrying things build strength and balance. Our outdoor area and open indoor spaces give busy bodies room to move safely.

  • 03

    Making friends

Playing alongside others is new for many toddlers. Educators help them take turns, share space and use words to say what they need.

  • 04

    Creative exploration

Paint, crayons, dough, water, sand and music let toddlers explore and make a mess with purpose. It is the process that matters, not the finished artwork.

  • 05

    Doing it myself

Pouring a drink, finding their bag or washing their hands. Small jobs help toddlers feel capable, and educators stay close to help when it gets tricky.

  • 06

    Feelings and settling

Big feelings are part of being two. Educators stay calm, name the feeling and help children find their way back, so they learn that feelings are safe to share.

Daily routines

A day that toddlers can predict

Toddlers feel settled when they know what is coming. The order stays the same, while the timing moves with the children and the weather.

All four meals are cooked fresh in our kitchen, with halal, vegetarian and allergy-aware options. See how we do meals.

  1. Arrive and settle

A warm hello, breakfast for early arrivals, and quiet play while friends arrive.

  2. Morning play

Indoor and outdoor play, with stories, songs and small group experiences.

  3. Morning tea and lunch

Meals cooked in our kitchen, eaten together at the table.

  4. Rest time

Sleep or quiet rest, depending on what your child needs.

  5. Afternoon play

More play inside and out, then afternoon tea before home time.

Next step

Getting ready for preschool

As children near three, they are ready for longer projects and more time with friends. We talk with you about timing, and our approach is designed to help your child get to know the preschool room before they move up.

FAQs

Questions about the Toddler Program

If your question is not here, give us a call or ask on your tour.

What ages are in the Toddler Program?

Our Toddler Program is for children from around two to three years old. We look at each child’s readiness as well as their age, and talk with families about the right time to move rooms.

Does my toddler still have a sleep during the day?

Yes, if they need one. Rest time is part of the toddler day, and children who no longer sleep can rest quietly. Let us know about your child’s sleep routine at home so we can follow it.

My child is not toilet trained yet. Is that okay?

Of course. Many toddlers are still in nappies. When your child shows signs of being ready, we will work with you so the same approach is used at home and at the centre.

What does my toddler need to bring?

Usually a spare change of clothes, a bottle or cup if your child still uses one, and any medication with clear instructions. We will give you the full list when you enrol.

Are meals provided?

Yes. Breakfast, morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea are prepared on site each day. Halal, vegetarian and allergy-aware options are available.
